Community Projects; Our year 11 students completed tasks within their GCSE catering course in preparation to raise money for the Royal British Legion. They designed, prepared and cooked a three course meal for an age group of their choice. Through this experience they had to learn how to budget as well as challenge their own opinions, taste buds and styles. As a group they had to work together and communicate effectively to please their paying customers, yet more importantly make a profit so they could donate money to their chosen Charity. As you can see the event was enjoyed by a variety of ages and the food went down a treat! The students were able to donate £57.63 to The royal British Legion after the event. Which is a tribute to their commitment and determination.
WEAR A HAT DAY Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. On the 26th of March we all made, wore and had fun and games with hats to raise money for a very special staff member who has lived through and survived a brain tumour.
We celebrated wear a Christmas hat day on the 17th of December2021 to again raise awareness and money for Brain Tumour Research. we raised £250.00 on our last day of term before Christmas and had a fantastic day!
